Reddit Search

Search Reddit — posts, subreddits, or within a specific subreddit — right from Raycast.

Commands

Search Reddit — search posts across Reddit. Sort by Relevance, Hot, Top, Latest, or Comments; open a post inline, in a full detail view, or on Reddit. Recent searches and your favorite subreddits are one keystroke away from the start screen.
Search Subreddits — find subreddits by name, favorite them for quick access, and jump into one to search its posts or open it on Reddit.
Quick Search Subreddit — a no-view command: type a query and a subreddit (macapps, r/macapps, or a pasted URL all work) and it opens a subreddit-restricted search on Reddit in your browser.

How it works

Reddit blocked anonymous access to its JSON API, so this extension reads Reddit's public Atom (RSS) feed instead — the one unauthenticated surface still serving live results.

That feed is rate limited to roughly one request per minute. To stay within it, the extension:

Searches on ⏎, not as you type — so a query isn't fired on every keystroke.
Caches results for 5 minutes — repeating a recent search (or stepping between views) is instant and costs no request. Use Refresh (⌘R) to fetch fresh results.
Shows a live cooldown — when the limit is hit, the search bar and actions display the seconds remaining, shared across all three commands.

If you need the full result set, deeper history, or Reddit's own filters, every view offers "Show all results on Reddit" to continue in your browser.

Preferences

Number of results to display (1–100) — how many results each search returns (default 10).
Debug Logging — enable detailed console logs for troubleshooting.

Versions3

Fixes - July 25, 2026

Opening a favorite subreddit now loads its posts (it was hitting an empty-query search endpoint that returned nothing).
The "Search r/…" action no longer fails on a missing argument; it opens a prefilled search form.
Fixed a rate-limit race where two open commands could each fire a request in the same instant and one would hit a 429.

Rebuilt on Reddit's Atom feed, new commands, filtering - July 24, 2026

Reddit blocked anonymous access to its JSON API, which broke the extension. This release rebuilds it on Reddit's public Atom (RSS) feed — the one unauthenticated surface still serving live results — and adds a batch of new features.

Fixed

Searches work again. Reddit's JSON endpoints now return 403; the extension reads the Atom feed instead.

Added

Search Subreddits is now its own command, with subreddit icons, descriptions, and creation dates.
Quick Search Subreddit — a no-view command to search within a subreddit and open the results on Reddit (accepts macapps, r/macapps, or a pasted URL).
Filter loaded results — after a search, the search bar filters the loaded results locally (instant, no request). Use New Search (⌘⇧F) to run a fresh query.
Recent searches and favorite subreddits on the start screen of each command.
Results caching (5 minutes) so repeating a search is instant and costs no request; Refresh (⌘R) fetches fresh results.
Sort by icon in the dropdown (Relevance, Hot, Top, Latest, Comments), settable before searching and sticky across reloads.
Copy actions — Copy Post URL, Copy Post as Markdown, Copy Subreddit Name, Copy Subreddit URL.
Show/Hide Sidebar and a full-screen View Post detail.
Relative timestamps ("5m ago") on results.

Changed

Because Reddit's feed is rate limited to roughly one request per minute, searching now runs on ⏎ rather than as you type, with a live cooldown shown across all commands.
Default results per search raised to 50 (a larger fetch costs the same single request and is cached, so you can filter over more).
Modernized the toolchain (ESLint 9, Prettier 3, native fetch).
